Belle poque Beauties at Anna Sui

"Modern eccentric" was how makeup artist Pat McGrath described the look at Anna Sui's show Wednesday evening.

"The inspiration for the collection was La Belle poque," said McGrath, who used her finger to blend in Max Factor's Night Club pencil around the eyes for a smoldering look. "It's a very light smoky eye, but it's very transparent; it's very sheer," she said.

On cheekbones, McGrath applied "a ton of blush" using Color Genius Blush by Max Factor in Roses for a pretty flush. Lips were stained with Cover Girl's rich berry-colored Outlast Lipstain color in Sassy Mauve.

Garren, from Garren New York, who did the hair for the show, left locks long and shaggy for a "natural and hip" look.

"We didn't fight the natural hair," said Garren. "We put a wave in some girls' hair, and left others' straight we didn't want it to be period." Garren used his shampoo and volumizing conditioner to prep, then parted hair down the center. He finished the easy undone look using his Designing Spray Tonic to hold the hair's natural shape. "Anna's collection was very Baroque with these crushed velvets and bright-colored paisleys," explained Garren. "So the undone hair lent Anna's clothes that rock 'n' roll feeling for 2010."
